Hello! I’m excited to share my journey from bench scientist to faculty member, and now, founder of Lab Lift-Off. Throughout each stage of my career, I learned the critical importance of clear communication. However, I quickly realized that there was no formal training to teach this essential skill to students, scientists, or even faculty members. Noticing this gap, I decided to create Lab Lift-Off, where I provide structured training to improve communication and teamwork in research labs.
My Story
Welcome to Lab Lift-Off!
I’m your guide, a passionate research leader with over 20 years of experience in cancer research and scientific communication. My journey started in the lab. It all began with my fascination for cancer biology and the tumor microenvironment, which took shape during my doctoral work at UNC Chapel Hill. Over the years, I published impactful papers in prestigious cancer research journals, eventually becoming faculty at The University of Notre Dame and The University of Southern California, specializing in pancreatic cancer . But it wasn’t just the science that fueled my passion—it was mentoring young scientists. I found immense satisfaction in helping students, postdocs, and research teams communicate better, collaborate effectively, and thrive.
I saw firsthand the challenges teams face with communication, collaboration, and leadership. This inspired me to create Lab Lift-Off, where I apply principles from aviation training to help labs function like high-performing teams.
My mission is to help research labs improve their teamwork, communication, and productivity, ensuring that they thrive in today’s fast-paced scientific landscape.
